A man who kidnapped a taxi driver in Statesboro Tuesday is in jail, and police are still investigating reasons why the man hijacked the taxi at gunpoint. Tevin Jamal Nixon, 23, University Pointe Apartments, hailed a cab around 6 a.m. Tuesday, “drew a firearm and forced the driver, Nicholas Lavan, to drive him to Claxton, Georgia,” said Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner. After arriving in Claxton, Nixon made the driver stop on the side of a roadway and wait for another vehicle.
