Police arrested a man on suspicion of stabbing and repeatedly raping a woman at his Institute Street home Saturday.
Johnny Will Williams, 45, Institute Street, was charged with rape, aggravated assault and false imprisonment, said Statesboro Police Capt. L.C. Williams.
The female victim accusing Johnny Will Williams of raping and stabbing her showed up at the Statesboro Police Department on West Grady Street around 3 p.m. Saturday, asking to speak with officers, he said. The woman, whom was not identified by police, said "she had been raped several times by Johnny Will Williams at his house," Capt. Williams said.
"He held her in the house for several hours before she was able to get away," he said. "When she did, she came directly to the police department. While being held in the house, she was cut and stabbed with a knife."
The woman was treated for her injuries at East Georgia Regional Medical Center and later released, he said.
After the victim reported the incident, Statesboro Police Det. Robert Bryan began an investigation, Capt. Williams said. Bryan located Johnny Will Williams on railroad tracks near South College Street around 3:45 p.m. Saturday and took him into custody after finding the knife believed to have been used in the attack.
After being charged , Johnny Will Williams was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he remains without bond, according to jail records.
The case remains under investigation, Capt. Williams said.
