I agree with the caller regarding the letter to the editor, especially the part about the freedom to read Soundoff or not. At this point in time, if voters don't wake up soon, that time will be gone. And unlike the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, I still say God Bless America.
This is for the couple who wrote the editorial in Sunday's paper ... mocking Soundoff. Well, they printed your letter, didn't they? Soundoff is simply comments, opinions, whatever. They're not laws or rules. If you don't enjoy it, don't read it. But obviously you do or you wouldn't know what it said.
Lemme see if I've got this right. In order to reduce the budget in the police department, they promoted a lieutenant to captain, which was as increase; made a captain an administrator, which was an increase; made a major a commander, which was an increase. So, unless the former chief made $300,000 or more, the numbers just don't add up. No wonder they can't balance the budget.
... I'm a recent OTC grad ... and ... I'm lookin' for employment, but everyone around here in the Statesboro area wants experience. ... How do you expect the ... you to gain experience if no one will give you a job? ... I think that's so obsolete. ... 'Specially in the Statesboro area. Everybody wanna hire their ... their friends or their buddy ... and it shouldn't be like that. Everyone needs a job.
... Can someone tell me why doesn't ... nursin' homes' hire medical assistants? ... I don't get the ... you know, the ... the hand of that. ... If someone's in need of a medical assistant, could they please respond to Soundoff?
... This is to the ... Friday Soundoff ... the person wantin' to know is the police department for sale. ... It was, but now they've changed their mind. ... From what I heard, they're just gonna take a $4 million loan out on the new police department. ... That way, all they hafto do is pay that back.
The great Abraham Lincoln once said, 'We, the People, are the rightful masters of both congress and the courts, not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution.'
I can't believe that we've got people here in Statesboro complaining about our fire fighters being out in public when they're on duty. Complaining when they're ... out buying their own groceries or going to the gym. Are you serious? They can't afford to have food delivered every meal. Can you? ... And don't you want them in shape so they can save your house or, God forbid, your family? ... Come on, Statesboro! Get it together! A lotta cities absolutely love to see them out in the community, but I guess Statesboro's not one of 'em.
I was just wonderin' if anybody knew what was wrong with the Brooklet Citgo? ... They have no gas. I was wonderin' if they couldn't afford it.
Does anyone know who the men were singing at the Farmer's Market Saturday mornin'? They were singing around 10 o'clock and they were fantastic. I would love to get a CD by them if they have one available.
