Statesboro police are seeking information about a teenage Statesboro High School student whom they said is missing. Detectives hope citizens can provide information about the teen's whereabouts so her family can know she is safe.
Talisa Marie Highsmith, 16, has been missing since April 1, said Det. Robert Bryan. While no foul play is yet suspected, Highsmith's mother has posted flyers seeking information, and friends have spoken to Talisa by phone, but no one seems to know where she is, he said.
Bryan said the calls were from untraceable numbers.
The biracial female teenager is light skinned, wears braces, and may be wearing her hair in braids, Bryan said. She weighs around 160 pounds and stands 5'8" tall.
The teen is a straight-A student, active in ROTC and basketball, and both police and her family are concerned for her safety, he said.
Talisa may be in the Bulloch-Screven county area, he said.
Anyone with information about Talisa's whereabouts is asked to contact Bryan at the Statesboro Police Department at 764-9911. Calls will remain confidential.
