INCIDENTS

➤ Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office

▲ HIGHWAY 46 — A resident reported finding handprints on the outside of several windows of his home and said he did not know whose prints they were. Photos were taken, and the deputy advised the resident to call again if he notices anything else suspicious in the area.

▲ INTERSTATE 16 — A fire in a tractor-trailer truck was reported near mile marker 117. The tractor had been safely separated from its burning shipping container, and firefighters responded and extinguished the fire, but the chassis and container were heavily damaged.

▲ MILL CREEK ROAD — A landlord reported that two Frigidaire window-unit air conditioners were stolen from a rental house and that several rolls of new carpet, which had been inside, had been moved outside during the apparent burglary. Rain then reportedly ruined the carpet, pushing the estimated value of stolen and ruined items to nearly $3,000. A side door appeared to have been pried open, the deputy noted.

▲ HIGHWAY 46 — A mother reported that her juvenile son might have run away, but while the Sheriff’s Office was entering the information into the state crime information system, the mother called to say that the boy had come home.


➤ Statesboro Police Department 

▲ NORTHLAKE DRIVE — A resident returned home to find an unfamiliar vehicle parked in his driveway and a man walking behind the house who apologized for being at the wrong house. The resident filed a “suspicious person” report, but the visitor was gone when police arrived.

▲ AN APARTMENT COMPLEX — A woman, reportedly pregnant, told police that her sister struck her.

▲ WEST GRADY STREET — An incident involving alleged criminal trespass and simple battery was reported at a residence. No arrest was reported, but an officer advised the complainant of the process for obtaining a warrant in Magistrate Court.

▲ BEDFORD STREET — At 4:17 a.m. Sunday, a resident reported hearing unusual noises coming from outside his home. The responding officer found a man the complainant didn’t know sleeping in the complainant’s vehicle. The previously sleeping suspect was arrested and charged with criminal trespass.


➤ Georgia State Patrol Post 45

▲ Last week, troopers investigated 13 crashes with four reported injuries in Bulloch County. Troopers also arrested two drivers on DUI charges and issued five citations and five warnings for seatbelt violations, one warning for a child restraint violation, and 12 citations and 39 warnings for speeding.


➤ Georgia Southern University Police 

▲ Officers issued seven traffic citations and eight traffic warnings and assisted two motorists.

▲ RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES GAS PORT — Property damage was reported.

▲ RECREATION ACTIVITY CENTER — An injury was reported.

▲ CAMBRIDGE AT PALMS — An arrest for misdemeanor marijuana possession was reported from a traffic stop.

▲ SHOOTING SPORTS CENTER — Someone reported a suspicious person or activities.

▲ PARK PLACE, DAYS INN, CHANDLER ROAD and six other locations — University officers assisted the Statesboro Police Department on calls through the weekend.

▲ FAIR ROAD AT CHANDLER ROAD — A traffic stop led to the arrest of a wanted person.

▲ BOTANICAL GARDEN — A criminal trespass report was turned over to GSU police investigators.

▲ RAC and BISHOP ALUMNI CENTER — A criminal trespass and theft by taking incident was also turned over to the agency’s investigators.
