Police report, 5/16/19
A call Monday about a man suspiciously knocking on the door of a residence for a long time without saying anything led to the knocker being held on a possible warrant, driven to the Effingham County line and handed over to an Effingham deputy.

▲ COUNTY JAIL — The BCSO Criminal Investigation Division was informed of an incident that  occurred earlier at the jail regarding a counterfeit bill.

▲ HIGHWAY 80 EAST — A man reported the theft of two firearms, but said that he last saw them about three years ago.

▲ STATE ROUTE 67 — A call Monday about a man suspiciously knocking on the door of a residence for a long time without saying  anything led  to the knocker being held on a possible  warrant, driven to the Effingham County line and handed  over to an Effingham deputy.

▲ OLD RIVER ROAD and OLD FLAT FORD ROAD — A vehicle fire Monday had been extinguished by the Fire Department by the time a deputy arrived to take photos. No one was injured.


➤ Statesboro Police Department

▲ SOUTH MAIN STREET — An attempted use of counterfeit currency was reported Monday at the Salvation Army store. This is the third known report of counterfeit cash in town since Friday. The other reports came from Belk and Goodwill.


➤ Georgia Southern University Police

▲ Officers issued two traffic warnings and no traffic citations and assisted two motorists. 

▲ SHOOTING SPORTS EDUCATION CENTER — Campus police responded to two burglar alarms nine hours apart Tuesday, but only “local reports” were filed.
