CAMPUS CROSSINGS — Police responded to the Georgia Southern University Police Department at 7:01 a.m. Wednesday concerning a reported rape. “After a thorough investigation the case was turned over to Criminal Investigation Bureau for further investigation,” the Statesboro police incident report says. It lists the incident location as a residence at Campus Crossings and the incident time as between 4 and 6:50 a.m. Nov. 14. The report, which classifies the incident as “rape (other weapon),” indicates the victim and offender, both of whom are listed as “confidential,” know each other and lists weapon type as “other.” The university incident report lists a male’s name under “offender/suspect/subject” and says he is from Statesboro but doesn’t provide any other details about him or the victim. No further information was immediately available.

CRANE LANE — Deputies responded to a residential fire at 8:29 p.m. The home sustained smoke damage, but no fire damage, from a pot that was left cooking on the stove. Statesboro firefighters extinguished the fire.

Officers issued two traffic citations and six traffic warnings and assisted four motorists Wednesday.
PLANT DRIVE — Police stopped a car that failed to stop at a stop sign at 3:08 a.m. Tuesday. Officers smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search revealed a book bag on the passenger side that contained a jar with suspected marijuana, a large bag, a small bag, a small digital scale and two cigarillo packages with four cigarillos missing. Also, a pill container was found in the glove box, and that had a small, burnt blunt and a small bag with suspected marijuana. The passenger said it was his, and he was arrested. The driver was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign and released.
FREEDOM’S LANDING — Police responded to a residence at 2:07 a.m. Wednesday after a panic alarm was activated. After no one inside answered several loud knocks and calls from officers, and no keys were found to open the door, police kicked it in and found eight men inside. They denied hearing police and denied pressing the panic alarm. A search revealed a pill bottle, caps for smoking devices, false identification for two of the men, a homemade smoking device from a paper towel roll and dryer sheets, a homemade smoking device from a sports drink bottle, two grinders, an evaporator, a few pills believed to be Adderall, a blunt with suspected marijuana and several empty beer bottles. All eight were arrested on various charges and judicially referred to university officials.

Arrests
Harry Cone Sr., 61, Julius Circle, Brooklet — pointing a firearm at another, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Incidents
JULIUS CIRCLE — Police were dispatched at 8:36 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a dispute involving a firearm. The victim said he cooked supper and took a plate back to his brother, but his brother started yelling at him and told him to get out of his room. The victim’s brother then pulled a shotgun out from under the bed and pointed it at him. The suspect told police he did pull the shotgun out but that it wasn’t loaded. He added that he had been in prison before. A criminal history of the suspect revealed that he is a convicted felon. He was arrested, and the shotgun was seized and placed into evidence for safekeeping.
