A woman was killed Sunday when her boyfriend shot her, then raped her teenage daughter, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
Frank Hayes Walters IV, 25, Bascom Road, Sylvania, shot and killed Deidra Thompson, 34, Swallowtail Drive, after an argument. Then, Walters sexually assaulted her 15-year-old daughter before kidnapping her and taking her to another county, he said.
Screven County Sheriff’s deputies contacted the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Sunday after a member of Walter’s family members told them Walters showed up at their house in Screven County, claiming he had killed Thompson at her Swallowtail Drive home in Eagle Estates, he said.
Walters had Thompson’s 15-year-old daughter with him, the witness said.
After handing over a handgun to family
members, Walters left the teen there as well and fled into the woods, Anderson said.
Screven County authorities transported Walter’s family member to Bulloch County, where they met with Bulloch County Sheriff’s investigators. From there, they went to the Eagle Estates home where Walters told the witness he shot Thompson.
When deputies forced their way into the home, they found Thompson’s body, “deceased from a gunshot wound,” Anderson said.
He declined to reveal details about the gunshot wound, adding that further details might be available after an autopsy.
While investigators worked on the crime scene, Screven County Sheriff’s deputies located Walters and took him to the Bulloch County Jail, where he was questioned. The juvenile victim, who also was taken back to Bulloch County, was interviewed by deputies and taken to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where an exam revealed she had been sexually assaulted, he said.
“Examination of the crime scene by a Bulloch County Sheriff’s crime scene investigator indicated Deidra Thompson was the victim of a murder, and that a sexual assault (involving the juvenile victim) had taken place in the residence,” Anderson said.
Further questioning revealed Walters murdered Thompson, sexually assaulted the teen and took her to Screven County against her will, in that order, he said.
The teen was released from questioning and went home with family while Walters was booked on charges of murder, rape, kidnapping, aggravated assault, aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation and enticing child for indecent purposes.
He also was charged with armed robbery, financial transaction card theft, financial transaction card fraud and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Anderson said Walters stole Thompson’s credit card during the series of crimes. Walters is being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail.
Anderson said he would “like to thank the Screven County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this case. Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Inv. Jason Long at (912) 764-1774.”
