Pair face new shoplifting charges
Police: Earrings stolen from Walmart, Kmart on same day
James Robert Pullam

A man and a woman already jailed in connection with the theft of earrings from Kmart now face charges for a similar theft from Walmart that occurred the same day, police said.

James Robert Pullam and Jennifer Lynn Pullam, both 26 and of Dyches Road, were charged with felony theft by shoplifting after they turned themselves in July 30.

Police said James Pullam took four sets of earrings, valued at a total of $2,600, from the jewelry display case at Kmart on July 25 and ran off after store employees approached.

After Statesboro Public Safety Director Wendell Turner issued a news release about the incident on July 31, Walmart loss prevention officers reviewed security video in reference to earrings they noticed previously were missing, Turner said in a news release issued Friday.

Walmart identified the suspects as the Pullams based on photos of the suspects shown by news media, Turner said.

Walmart contacted Statesboro police Detective Tommy Brown, who confirmed the suspects’ identities and issues arrest warrants for them charging them with an additional count of felony theft by shoplifting, Turner said.

The Pullams were arrested Wednesday by the Jones County Sheriff’s Office on Brown’s warrant and taken to the Bulloch County Jail. They are being held without bond and await further court action.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact Brown at the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911. Anonymous tips may be submitted online at or by sending a text message beginning with “TIPSSPD” to 274637 (CRIMES). All information is strictly confidential.
