Orchid’s fifth anniversary celebration is this weekend
Orchid 2018 Staff

Orchid Restaurant is one of Statesboro's most magical restaurants. Owner Mai Lan Nguyen has created a casual elegance with Orchid combined with some of the most delicious Asian-influenced dishes in Statesboro.

This weekend, Orchid celebrated its' fifth anniversary. To show their appreciation for your loyal support they are offering a free appetizer with the purchase of an entrée, which includes your choice of one spring roll or five dumplings, Friday through Sunday.

“I would like to thank all of our very loyal customers from Statesboro and surrounding counties for your continued love and support of Orchid,” said Mai Lan.

“I also want to give special thanks to the hardworking Orchid employees, especially Ustun, Shenna and Juan. They have all been working at Orchid since the grand opening five years ago,” said Mai Lan. “Each of them have big responsibilities at Orchid and they all strive to make sure the restaurant runs smoothly and they treat the business and the employees as if it were their own business. Even though Kelwin no longer works with us, he still comes in and helps occasionally.”

All of the entrees at Orchid have a Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese influence. Most of the dishes have been "Americanized."

One of the most popular entrees is the Pineapple Chicken. The entrée includes rice, chicken and vegetables served in an actual pineapple that is cut in half and hollowed out. The pineapple portion removed is cut into cubes and served on a plate with the dish. Instead of cooking the pineapple in the dish it is served on the side.

Pho, Vietnamese noodles, is another popular dish. It contains rice noodles with either beef, chicken or shrimp broth and like many of their dishes is gluten free. Also one of their newest dishes the Poke Bowl has become very popular.

Orchid has one of Statesboro's largest Sushi selections prepared by Gary Holloway. Orchid boasts over 30 selections, including Sashimi Deluxe. Half of the Sushi is cooked.

One of the most popular ones was created at Orchid just for Statesboro and is called the Georgia Roll. It is a great way for non-sushi eaters to get introduced to Sushi. The Georgia Roll includes fried shrimp wrapped with rice and topped with shredded crab, tempura flakes and a creamy sauce. It is heavenly!!

With popular lunch specials like the Bento which includes one Sushi roll, vegetables, rice and chicken for only $9.00, it is no surprise Orchid customers keep voting them as one of the Best Restaurants in the Boro.

Orchid is locally owned. Mai Lan, her daughter Jenny and son Tommy are actively involved in the restaurant daily. Visit them this week and you will also discover why their customers love them so much.

Orchid is located at 1525 Fair Road, Suite 104 and is open seven days per week. Find them on Facebook: @orchidasianrestaurant
