New brick-look crosswalks going in overnight at West Main and College streets in Statesboro
City of Statesboro seal

The intersection around West Main and College streets will be closed from about 8:30 p.m. today until 6 a.m. Tuesday for completion of the crosswalk upgrade, said engineer Marcos Trejo in the city's engineering department.

Brick-paver crosswalks on the four sides of the intersection were removed last month, after repeated problems followed their installation last summer. Paveway Systems, as a subcontractor to Y-Delta, general contractor for the intersection improvements, is replacing the crosswalks with a new material that gives the appearance of bricks but without separate pavers that can shift and separate.
