Alumni of the Statesboro High School Class of 2003 plan to host a memorial service in honor of their classmate, U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Chester McBride Jr., Saturday at 5 p.m. in the SHS Auditorium.
McBride was one of six Air Force personnel killed Monday in an attack by a suicide-bomber in a village near Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, the Department of Defense reported. He was remembered here for his teamwork and leadership as a Statesboro High student athlete.
At the end of the service in the auditorium, participants will proceed to the SHS track to light candles in a concluding vigil, SHS Class of 2003 President Statishia Cone informed classmates Wednesday.
