Two of four suspects in an armed robbery Wednesday night are behind bars, and police are seeking information on the others, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the University Pines Apartments area, where a man told  them four men robbed him at gunpoint. Responding Advanced Patrol Officer Richard Barrick saw two men matching the offenders' descriptions running through the Campus Crossings Apartments area, he said.
Barrick and Advanced Patrol Officer Nicholas Davis  chased the suspects, taking 17-year-old Zackery Allen Durrence, of Bream Road,  Statesboro, into custody. The second suspect, Malcolm Jamal Gainey, 17, Hilltop Circle, Mableton, was caught a short tie later by Statesboro Police Det. Ken Scott and Det. Sgt. Rob Bryan, York said.
The male victim told police he was in the University Pines Apartments area when the four men approached him and asked for a cigarette. Then, one man pointed a gun at his head while the other three struck him and went through his pockets, he said.
The victim was not seriously injured, he said.
Both Durrence and Gainey were charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, battery and obstruction of officers.
"Anyone with information (about the armed robbery and suspects at large) is asked to contact the Statesboro Police Department Criminal Investigation Division , Det. Ken Scott, at 764-1542," York said. "Information that is provided will be held in strict confidence."
