Two men held a victim at gunpoint Wednesday night while forcing him to drive them to an ATM, then his apartment, police said.
Statesboro Police Department investigators hope residents can help identify and locate the suspects, one of whom was captured on surveillance video while trying to break into the victim’s home.
Advanced Patrol Officer Justin Samples, the public relations officer for the department, said the two suspects, unknown to the male victim, approached him around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at Plantation Villas.
One man had a gun, and the two forced the victim into his own truck, then made him drive them to an ATM, he said.
When that effort failed to provide them money, the suspects ordered the man to drive to his Freedom’s Landing apartment, where one suspect tried to enter the victim’s apartment. The other suspect remained with the victim, who managed to flee, Samples said.
When the victim fled, the suspects left. The victim was uninjured. The suspects were not able to enter the apartment, Samples said.
Both suspects are black males. One wore dark clothing and a Chicago Bulls hat while the other had dreadlocks, Samples said.
