A Statesboro man was charged Friday with multiple sex offenses against a child after someone reported incidents that allegedly took place over the span of two years.

Reports did not specify the age or sex of the juvenile victim. Brandon Deroderick Riggs, 31, of Johnson Street, was charged with two counts each of aggravated sodomy with force against a person younger than 10 years old, child molestation and aggravated child molestation, according to Bulloch County Jail records.

Riggs was arrested Thursday after an undisclosed complainant told Statesboro Police investigators that “a juvenile had been touched inappropriately by an adult male multiple times over the last two years,” Statesboro Police Deputy Chief Rob Bryan said in a statement released Wednesday.

The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Bureau and assigned to Detective Keith Holloway, he said. Holloway, through investigation, identified Riggs as the suspected offender and secured warrants for his arrest.

Later Thursday around 8:20 p.m., Cpl. Matthew Brinson arrested Riggs at a residence on Packinghouse Road and took him to the Bulloch County Jail, where he awaits further court action, Bryan said.

Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to contact the Statesboro Police Department at (912) 764-9911.

Tips may also be submitted online at www.tipsoft.com or by sending the text “TIPSSPD” followed by the message to 274637 (CRIMES). All information is strictly confidential, Bryan said.
