Metter Police Chief Dennis Nelson released the identity of the man arrested in Sunday’s shooting at a Metter nightclub.
Joe Lester Deson Jr., 33, Washington Street, Metter, is charged with aggravated assault after reportedly shooting an unnamed victim in the back.
Nelson said the 27-year-old victim remains in stable condition after being airlifted to Memorial Health University Medical center in Savannah Sunday morning.
Metter Police were called to Club 46, at the intersection of Metter-Portal Highway and Ga. 46, around 12:15 a.m. Sunday in regards to reports of a man being shot, he said.
While officers were involved in that shooting incident, a second shooting incident was reported in the area, Nelson said.
Officers heard “several gunshots fired in rapid succession” in the Ellis Street area, but did not locate any offenders or victims, he said. “Investigators believe the second shooting may be connected to the first shooting at Club 46.”
More arrests are anticipated regarding both shooting incidents.
According to Internet website www.mugshots.com, Denson has a past record of criminal activity. He was incarcerated in Indian River County, Fla. on convictions of felony driving without a license and current registration, and fleeing/attempt to elude, according to the website. He served a year and six months and was released in Dec. 2010.
