A 17-year-old girl was arrested Friday after taking a car on a joyride that had law enforcement officers chasing her through Statesboro.
Bulloch County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Guarino, after hearing a lookout posted for the stolen 1996 Toyota Camry, spotted the car on East Main Street near Northside Drive East Friday afternoon, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
The driver, later identified as Cynthia Lynn Vincent, 17, Cedarwood Acres Mobile Home Park, Register, refused to pull over and fled from the deputy, he said.
“Vincent recklessly disregarded several traffic control devices as the pursuit continued down East Main Street,” he said. “Vincent was finally forced to stop on East Main Street at Veteran’s Memorial Parkway and was taken into custody.”
No one was injured, and the stolen car was returned to the owner, who also lives at Cedarwood Acres and who had followed Vincent into town, he said.
Vincent was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, charged with motor vehicle theft, felony fleeing/attempt to elude, disobeying a traffic control device, and driving without a valid license.
