A frightening incident Thursday afternoon has Statesboro Police seeking an older man in a small red truck after a reported kidnapping attempt, said Statesboro Police Chief Stan York.
The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was walking in an alley near the Midtown parking lot, near the intersection of South Walnut and Vine streets, around 1 p.m. Thursday when she was approached by a man in a small r4ed truck, he said.
The man grabbed the teen by the arm and ordered her to get into the vehicle, he said. However, the girl screamed and yanked away from the suspect, who fled the area.
The man was alone in his truck, York said. No specific description was given, except he was a white male who appeared to be in his 60's, he said.
The teen was not injured, he said.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Statesboro Police Det. Ben Purvis, who is investigating the case, at 764-9911. All calls will remain confidential, York said.
