Ogeechee Technical College President Dr. Dawn Cartee of Ogeechee Technical College and East Georgia State College President Bob Boehmer recently further solidified the partnership of the two institutions by signing an agreement to share bus transportation for their students.

Currently, under contract with First Transit Inc., East Georgia provides bus transportation for its students to and from Georgia Southern University's Paulson Stadium bus stop and the college's Statesboro facility at 10449 U.S. Highway 301 S.

This new agreement will extend EGSC's current bus route to include an Ogeechee Tech bus stop at 1 Joseph E. Kennedy Blvd. for OTC students. The shared bus will run Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. until 5:15 p.m. The bus runs for East Georgia only on Fridays, as OTC does not have Friday classes.

Ogeechee Tech students will be provided designated student IDs to indicate eligibility for transportation. The service will provide for convenience and safety of the students as well as energy savings.

This is the first agreement to share transportation services between a Technical College System of Georgia institution and a University System of Georgia institution. The agreement demonstrates how the Technical College and University systems can improve the efficiency of student services and support through creative initiatives that benefit students from both systems.

East Georgia and Ogeechee Tech have an established partnership with a strong history of collaboration to provide the best possible learning environments for their students. This agreement is indicative of how the colleges share their vision for the future.
