Bryan Burke to lead Georgia independent insurors

Bryan Burke, president of Blount, Burke, Wimberly & Hendricks Insurors in Statesboro, was elected president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Georgia at the association's annual meeting on June 14.        

Burke has served on IIAG's Board of Directors as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Southeast Georgia and as chairman of the Young Agents Committee. He is also a recipient of the association's Edgar Dunlap Award for Community Service. Burke will serve on the association's Executive Committee through 2009.   

A 1985 graduate of Georgia Southern College, Burke has been in the insurance industry for 23 years. Burke is a member of Columbia Mutual Agency Council, the Agency Council for Central Mutual, and a founding member of Georgia Agency Partners. Burke is immediate past president of Statesboro's Rotary Club, past president Statesboro Sigma Chi Alumni Association and on the Executive Committee of the Bulloch County Boys & Girls Club. He has served his community in many other roles and capacities including the Statesboro Rotary Club and Southern Boosters Club. He is a board member for the Coastal Area District Development Authority, the Statesboro Regional Library and the First United Methodist Church.  

In addition, Burke was Scout Master of Troop # 332 and now serves on the Troop Committee. He is a Sunday school teacher; and volunteer coach for baseball and basketball.  Burke is also past president of the Mid-Day Optimist Club and the American Cancer Society, as well as chairman for the Statesboro High Boosters Club.     

Burke is married to former Elizabeth G. Averitt of Statesboro and is father to their three children Taylor 16, Haley 14, and Ashley, 10.
