In the past, the annual “Bulloch County’s Night Out Against Crime” has been a popular family event, but organizers hope this year the crowd will be even bigger.

Local businesses, church groups, civic clubs and others are encouraged to be a part of the fun, hosted by members of the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Foundation, said Deputy James “Bubba” Revell.

The event is planned for Saturday. Sept. 22, from 5-8 at the Fair Road Recreation Park. Revell said he hopes more people will become involved as participants in the fun.

The first event in 2015 was a great success, and in 2016 the crowd was even larger. The night was canceled last year due to a hurricane, but he expects this year’s event to be the best yet, he said.

The event is free, and no vendors will be allowed to sell items, but many have already signed up to offer free hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones, cotton candy, and more, he said. “Everything will be free. If a kid walks by and sees a snow cone, and wants a snow cone, he gets a snow cone.”

The Bulloch County’s Night Out Against Crime is “a big family friendly gathering where people can fellowship” and mingle with law enforcement officers in the spirit of reducing crime and promoting good community relations, he said.

There will be an obstacle course, painting, inflatable bounce houses, a photo booth, golf cart train, and dunking booth, said Julie Morrison, another volunteer with the Foundation. “We are still working on the list. If you or someone you know wants to be a community partner, please reach out to me. We have several opportunities available and are open to some more.”
