Battling hunger with bowls of chili
100809 EMPTY BOWL 03 web
Michelle Klumpp, center, daughter and Georgia Southern student Kylie, left, and Georgia Southern co-worker Coco Roberts examine the ceramics offerings during Thursday's Empty Bowl event at the Rotunda on campus. The Office of Student Leadership and Civic Engagement at Georgia Southern University teamed up with the art department and other campus organizations to raise money and awareness for Hunger and Homelessness Week.
The third annual Empty Bowls Project sale and chili luncheon was part of GSU's Hunger and Homelessness Week. GSU art students created and donated their hand-thrown bowls to the project. Thursday the bowls were brought to the Rotunda in front of the Russell Union and sold for $10 apiece. The bowls were filled with chili and all profits will benefit the Statesboro Food Bank.
