Police arrested a man on Sunday who they say is responsible for an armed robbery and two armed robbery attempts in Statesboro over the weekend.

Hayward Arthur Fields Jr., 25, of Ellis Road, is charged with one count of robbery and two counts of felony attempt to commit robbery, said Statesboro police Capt. James Winskey.

Fields is currently being held without bond in the Bulloch County Jail, pending further court action.

Saturday evening, there were two armed robbery attempts — one at the Subway on Chandler Road and another at Two Guys Package Shop in College Plaza.

On Sunday, another attempt was committed at Parker's on Northside Drive East near Lowe's, he said.

It was unclear on Monday which incidents were attempts and which was an actual robbery. Winskey said further information is pending investigation.

These incidents appear to be related and are being investigated accordingly.

Statesboro police were assisted by the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office, Georgia Southern University police and "citizens that provided information during the investigation," he said in a released statement.
