Police still seek 3 suspects

An armed Robin Hood Trail resident scared off three masked armed robbery suspects Wednesday night after they burst into his home, police said.

No shots were fired, and no one was injured. The intruders got away with a small amount of property including a cellphone, said Statesboro police Capt. Jared Akins.

Around midnight Wednesday, police were called to the Robin Hood Trail apartment off Lanier Drive, where two men and a woman live, he said. The three victims were home when three male suspects, all with their faces covered and reportedly unknown to the victims, forced their way through the door and demanded money and property, including the woman’s cellphone, he said.

“At least one of the suspects was armed with a gun,” Akins said.

But when one of the male victims produced a gun of his own, the three masked suspects fled, he said.

The Statesboro Police Impact Team responded, as well as K9 units, and pursued several tracks. However, they were unable to determine the location of the suspects.

“They could not determine whether they entered any specific apartment” or where the suspects had gone, he said.
