Sheriff seeks man who gave false information
Brett Alexander Thomas

Bulloch County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking a man who lied to them regarding a Saturday afternoon armed robbery of a convenience store on U.S. 301 North.
Deputies captured two men; Hayward Arthur Fields Jr., 19, Parker Road, charged with the robbery, which took place around 4:48 p.m. at the 301 Food and Gas convenience store, said Bulloch County Sheriff Lynn Anderson.
Xzavier Juwan Lanier, 20, Pinemount Boulevard, was apprehended with Fields, charged with marijuana possession after deputies found marijuana in the car.
They are looking for Brett Alexander Thomas, 38, Chandler Road, who gave them false information about the robbery, he said.
A lookout was posted for the robbery suspect’s vehicle, an “older model Chevrolet El Camino,” and a short time later, Georgia State Patrol Trooper Trey Miller spotted the car on Mikell Street in Statesboro, he said.
Fields and Lanier were detained for questioning. After investigators discovered a “large quantity of marijuana” in the car, both Fields and Lanier were arrested. Fields was linked to the armed robbery, but Lanier was not he said.
After deputies processed the scene at the store and discovered evidence, they determined a lone gunman (later identified as Fields) entered the store with what appeared to be a firearm and robbed the clerk of “several hundred dollars from the till,” Anderson said. The robber fled at a “high rate of speed,” and witnesses gave the deputies a description of the car.
Fields was charged with armed robbery, while Lanier was charged with marijuana possession.
Warrants were taken for Brett Alexander Thomas, 38, Chandler Road, “who provided false information to deputies during the course of the armed robbery investigation,” he said.
Thomas stands 6’2”, weighs around 250 pounds, and is wanted on parole violation as well as giving false information, Anderson said.
Anyone with information on Thomas’ whereabouts is asked to contact a warrants deputy at 764-8888. Anyone with information about the armed robbery is asked to contact Bulloch County Sheriff’s Inv. Bill Black at 764-8888, he said.
