Nonprofit agencies in Bulloch County interested in applying for United Way funding for fiscal year 2018–19 are invited to an informational meeting Tuesday, Jan. 23, said Carey C. Melton, interim director for Bulloch County United Way.

The only requirement for eligibility is that the applying agency be 501c3 compliant, she said.

United Way raises funds for 19 different agencies in Bulloch County, she said.

“We cover all stages of life, from birth to senior citizens,” Melton said.

United Way also works with agencies in organizing fundraisers and other activities.

When agencies apply for funding, they give a presentation to a panel of volunteers, who then make recommendations to the United Way board of directors, who decide on funding amounts, she said.

United Way also fields calls from citizens and directs them to appropriate agencies that may be able to help them with needs, Melton said.
