Wrestling fans and trivia buffs can help find a cure for cancer by enjoying an upcoming fundraiser dinner show featuring premier wrestling, family fun, trivia and prizes.
American Premier Wrestling and D&R Car Care will host the eighth annual Smackdown Cancer event Saturday at the APW's "Slam Center" at 1055 Highway 24 East in Statesboro, across from Mill Creek Park, said Tom Caiazzo, event organizer.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a "Pro Wrestling Trivia Hour." A $5 donation gets a chance to play and win many prizes and gift cards from area locations including Ole Times Country Buffet, El Sombrero, The Boiling Shrimp, Sonic and Olive Garden. The grand prize is a Chick-fil-A gift basket.
The APW wrestling event begins at 6:30 p.m., with a two-hour pro wrestling show and all-you-can-eat pizza, he said. The event and meal is $10 for adults, $5 for children.
Bell time is 6:45 p.m.
"There is plenty of safe and secure parking, and APW enforces its ‘Fan Code of Conduct' to make sure everyone has a comfortable viewing environment," Caiazzo said.
All proceeds go to "Team Smackdown" as part of the 2018 Bulloch County Relay for Life fundraiser.
Scheduled to appear is nationally recognized superstar Iron Mann and APW stars including Big Country, "Beautiful" Braddock, Rowe, Young DC, Captain Canada, "Emperor" Tommy Nero and many others.
Statesboro's John Love will be the guest ring announcer for the event's invocation and first match of the evening, he said.
