Kelly Ruth Smith and Robert "Bo" Patton Staley were united in marriage on March 26th, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Statesboro, Georgia. The ceremony was officiated by Dr. William H. Perry.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Thomas Smith of Statesboro, Ga. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Ruth Coursey, the late Mr. James Al Coursey and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Smith of Statesboro.
The groom is the son of Mr. David W. Staley of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Mrs. Betty Ann Bush of Greensboro, North Carolina. He is the grandson of Mr. Charles W. Staley and the late Mrs. Jean E. Staley of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Mrs. Betty R. Queen and the late Mr. Ray Jack Queen of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Friends of the bride's family hosted an engagement party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Marks in Statesboro. The parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at Beaver Creek Plantation. Friends honored the bride and groom with various showers on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a matte satin strapless ivory gown. The gown had a ruched, crisscross pattern from the top of the gown to the dropped waist. The fitted dress provided a silhouette that flared below the hip. The skirt of the gown was draped with pick-up tucks and flowed into a chapel-length train. The train was adorned with embroidery, beads, stones and pearls. The back of the gown was V-shaped and enhanced with covered buttons to the train.
The bride was attended by Candice Tillman Rogers of Metter, Ga., as her matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Alison Lynne Powell of Atlanta, Kate Johnson Greene of Savannah, Joie Edenfield Roach of Statesboro, Gena Kennedy Manning of Statesboro, Laine Williams Miseje of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Emily Brannen Renfroe of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Jessica Lorin Powers of Hilton Head Island, S.C. The flower girls were Meredith E. Staley of Greensboro, N.C., Layne F. Staley and Rachel E. Staley of Charlotte, N.C.
The groom was attended by David Andrew Staley of Charlotte, N.C., as his best man. Groomsmen were Jeffrey A. Aldrich of Washington, D.C., Benjamin F. Schneider of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Corey T. Smith of Statesboro, David W. Staley of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Adam J. Neumann of Ninty Six, S.C.
Lauren Q. Staley, sister of groom, served as the reader. Mrs. Sheila McKee (piano/organist) and Mrs. Amy Taulbee (vocalist) served as the musicians. Meg Chandler Long and Katie Marks Vines greeted the guests. The wedding was directed by Mrs. Jeanne Anne Marsh. A special thanks to Mr. Todd Aldrich and the "Todd Squad", friends of the bride's family, for the beautiful floral arrangements.
The wedding reception was held at Forest Heights Country Club, where the 5th Street Band performed.
After a honeymoon in Aruba, the couple resides in Bluffton, South Carolina.
