Ms. Debbie Miller Black of Brooklet, Ga., and William A. Black Jr. of Preston, Ga., announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittney Lynn Black of Leary, Ga., to Alton Westbrook Mathis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mathis of Arlington, Ga.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Ms. Virginia Miller and the late Ralph Miller of Brooklet and Ms. Mae Black and the late Mr. Alvin Black of Preston, Ga. Brittney is a 2005 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a BS in Marketing and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She is employed with Peach State Health Plan.
The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alton Timmons of Arlington, Ga., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mathis of Warwick, Ga. Al graduated from Valdosta State University in 2002 with a BA in Communications and was a member of Kappa Alpha Order. He is employed with Timmons Farm in Arlington, Ga.
The couple has planned to wed on October 3, 2009, at 5 p.m. at Wynfield Plantation in Albany, Ga.
