When Carolyn Wright first came to Julia P. Bryant Elementary school it was 1966. The school had opened in 1952 and she was about to go into the fifth grade.
"It felt like the place for me right away," Wright said.
Now, 44 years later, Wright is a member of the school's office staff and she is getting ready for Monday's first day of school in a new Julia P. building she said is so magnificent she can't stop smiling.
The new Julia P. is twice the size of the old school and filled with modern educational tools and learning centers. While everyone could see the outside of the school as it was built, the community finally was able to tour the inside during open house on Thursday evening.
"It is so amazing for our children and the community," Wright said. "I'm so proud. It shows how far our community and our town has come. I can't wait to see the look of our children as they come to school for the first time on Monday."
