Band boot camp
SEB training hard for upcoming season
W SEB BAND CAMP 15
Doubled-over after running 1/2 mile on the Southeast Bulloch High School Track, freshmen Alex Varner, far left, and Samu Blitch are chided by Band director Matt Olsen, right, for running with their shoes off. Olsen insists members must complete a 1/2 mile run in 6 minutes or less. Physical training also includes stretching and body workouts.

The Southeast Bulloch High School marching band is halfway through a two-week boot camp where physical training is as important as the music.

Band members practice from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, seeking precision and perfection in every aspect of their performance.

The rigorous training builds character and helps bring the band together as competitors and entertainers.
