SHS graduate Mee wins HR derby

After producing a career’s worth of home runs, recent Statesboro High School graduate Justin Mee put on a final hitting display at the Blue Devils’ field Tuesday night at Mill Creek Regional Park.
Mee celebrated his second consecutive SHS home run derby title, keeping himself the only champion in the event’s two-year history. Ben Roberts hit the most total home runs on the night, but Mee was able to retain his title against Roberts in the final round.
The home run derby championship wasn’t the only good news for Mee on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, he officially committed to play baseball next season at Augusta State University. Mee will join fellow 2012 SHS graduate Lance Mangrum on the Jaguars’ roster next spring.
