SEB wins Tattnall tourney

    GLENVILLE — Southeast Bulloch won a pair of games in the Gold Bracket at the Warrior Blast softball tournament at Tattnall County to win the event Saturday.
    The Lady Yellow Jackets (6-1) defeated Vidalia 2-1 in eight innings in the championship to take home the title.
    Tied 1-1 in the eighth inning, Sierra Peebles drilled a pitch over the VHS left fielder's head to drive in Lindsey Crosby for the game-winning run.
    Peebles went 3-for-4 in the game and struck out 14.
    Nira Byrd (2-for-4) scored in regulation to force extra innings.
    In the first game of pool play, SEB defeated host Tattnall County, 6-1.
    Peebles struck out four and went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
    Effie Manahan went 3-for-4, and Breanna Gates scored twice as a courtesy runner for Manahan.
    Peebles, Manahan and Leah McCarthy were each named to the Warrior Blast All-Tournament team.
    Southeast begins  Region 3A-AA play Tuesday when it hosts Laney at 5 p.m.
