This season, statesboroherald.com is expanding local football coverage to a level rarely seen across the nation for a local newspaper web site. In addition to our industry-leading weekly live high school football broadcasts of “Friday Night LIVE,” we're going behind-the-scenes in a new weekly video show following Statesboro football through the Blue Devils' entire 2011 season.
“Runnin' with the Devils,” which debuts today on statesboroherald.com, provides a weekly, all-access look into Coach Steve Pennington's powerhouse football program at Statesboro High as the Blue Devils compete for a Georgia Class AAAA state title.
The video series chronologically follows the Blue Devils from spring practice through the final snap. You'll be able to watch as the coaching staff attempts to mold young men into a championship team, feel each success and failure from the sideline, and view Statesboro football in a way never seen before.
Coming off of a state semifinal appearance in 2010, Statesboro returns most of its key players this season, including senior quarterback Reid Pennington, all-state running back Quan Daniels, and Georgia Tech commit Michael Summers. The stated team goal is simple — win the Blue Devils' first state title since 2005.
New video episodes of “Runnin' with the Devils” will be available every Wednesday this fall on statesboroherald.com, and previous shows are available 24-7.
DVD sets of the program will be available from the Statesboro Herald following the season.
