Local Roundup: SEB suffers first loss at Tattnall

    REIDSVILLE — The Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets (2-1) suffered their first loss of the 2012 season Tuesday with a 6-2 loss on the road at Tattnall County.
    The Jackets led 2-0 until the fifth inning. Sierra Peebles pitched four scorless innings before she and Taylor Wilkes combined to allow six TCHS runs — five in the fifth and one more in the sixth.
    Southeast Bulloch was led offensively by Effie Manahan, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
    Mary Grace Manahan went 2-for-2, and Jordan Hutchinson went 2-for-3.
    Southeast returns to Reidsville Friday when the Battle Creek Warriors host their annual tournament.
    SEB will face Wayne County at 5 p.m. and Vidalia at 7:30 p.m.

GSU to host 'Meet the Eagles'
    Georgia Southern's annual Meet the Eagles event is set for Saturday, Aug. 18, at Paulson Stadium.
    Members of the Men's and Women's Soccer, Volleyball and Football teams will sign autographs beginning at 9 a.m., and the football team will scrimmage at 10:30 a.m. Fans will also have an opportunity to meet the cheerleaders, GUS and each squad's head coach.
    Saturday will also be the first opportunity to pick up this season's team posters and schedule cards.
