Local Roundup: Screven tops Bleckley

SYLVANIA — Screven County (3-4, 3-2 Region 3AA) defeated Bleckley County 36-27 Friday night in Sylvania. 
    Bleckley scored first, but Screven tied the game in the second quarter when Jeremy Johnson scored. The PAT was missed. Screven took the lead at 2:10 when Rodderick Grace returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown and Johnson made a 2 point conversion. Bleckley returned the kickoff for a touchdown which tied the score at 14.
    With :30 left in the half Johnson scored and Jessica Markovcic got the PAT. The score was 21-14 at half time.
    With 3:43 to go in the 3rd quarter, Davas Reason returned an interception for a touchdown 25 yards. Markovcic got the kick making the score 28-14.
    Bleckley scored back-to-back touchdowns but Bleckley missed a PAT when the center snapped but the holder wasn’t looking leaving Screven ahead 28-27. At 1:17 Screven sewed it up when Aikeem Mingle scored from 21 yards out and Johnson ran in a 2 point conversion.
    Four Screven backs rushed for 60 yards or better. They were Johnson, 23-69; Mingle, 6 -65; Dylan Davis, 13-63; and Grace 10-60.
