Local Roundup: Lady Redskins roll
Bryan County

    PEMBROKE — The Bryan County Lady Redskins (17-2, 6-0 Region 3E-A) stayed perfect in region play as they took down Claxton 69-53 Tuesday at home.
    Olivia Melvin led all scorers with 19 points.
    For the Lady Tigers (4-11, 2-4), Tashara Moody led the scoring with 16 points. Polly Murray recorded a double-double, scoring 11 and grabbing 10 rebounds.
    Claxton hosts Calvary Day Friday at 6 p.m., while Bryan County looks to extend its winning streak to eight when it hosts Savannah Christian Friday at 6 p.m.

Swainsboro stops Lady Jackets
    BROOKLET — The Southeast Bulloch Lady Yellow Jackets dropped a Region 3B-AA matchup Tuesday at home as Swainsboro left with an 84-41 win.
     The junior-varsity boys got SEB off to a good start with a 54-51, overtime win in the early game. Ryan McBride scored 18 points for the JV Yellow Jackets.
    Southeast Bulloch returns to the court Friday in Sylvania to face off with Screven County. The girls play at 6 p.m. and the boys will follow.

John Milledge tops BA
    MILLEDGEVILLE — Zach Altany scored 26 points for Bulloch Academy, but the Gators fell 84-73 Tuesday in region action.
    Bulloch hosts Westminster on Friday.

Lady Gators fall at JMA
    MILLEDGEVILLE — John Milledge had too much for the Bulloch Academy Lady Gators (15-6, 2-5) Tuesday as it won 51-29.
    For Bulloch Academy, Anna Newton led the scoring with 10 and Hailey Burke added nine.

JV Lady Devils knock off SEHS
    The Statesboro junior-varswity Lady Blue Devils (12-1) took down South Effingham 55-27 Tuesday.
    Statesboro returns to action Friday at Evans.

BA JV tops Milledge
    MILLEDGEVILLE — The Bulloch Academy junior-varsity Lady Gators won 27-14 Tuesday at John Milledge.
    Brooke Gilbert and Mary Kate Thomas each scored eight points in the win.
Savannah Christian knocks off Metter
    METTER — Savannah Christian defeated the Metter Lady Tigers 41-15 Tuesday in Region 3E-A play.
    Metter heads for Savannah Friday when it faces Savannah Country Day at 6 p.m.

SBCPRD rec-league hoops scores
    The Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation department basketball leagues are heating up.
    In the Junior Boys league, the Sixers beat the Nuggets 40-14 and also beat the Timberwolves 23-13.
    In the Midget Boys league, the Bobcats pulled out a win against the Clippers 24-22.
    In the Minor Boys league, the Bucks won against the Grizzlies 46-41. Also, the Warriors won against the Timberwolves 26-21. The Raptors beat Thunder 27-25 and the Hawks won against the Rockets 38-30.
    In the Midget Girls league, Fever pulled out a win against
Sky 15-14.
    In the Tiny Minor Girls league, Sky beat the Comets 30-21 while Dream won against Storm 30-18.

GSU baseball tickets on sale
    Georgia Southern baseball tickets are available for the 2011 season.
    Season tickets start at  $70 for adults and $35 for youth and include more than 30 home games. The Eagles play 14 of their first 16 games at home in J.I. Clements Stadium.
    Highlights of the 2011 home schedule include five games against ranked opponents, the season opener with George Washington, and a home series against defending Southern Conference champion The Citadel.
    The 2011 season opens Friday, Feb. 18, at J.I. Clements Stadium with a three-game series against George Washington.
