CLAXTON — Claxton High School's girls basketball team beat Marion County, 56-38, in the first round of the Class A state playoffs Friday night.
    Claxton (22-6) was led by Polly Murray, who scored 19 points to go with 11 rebounds and five steals.
    Deetra Williams had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Jazmine Price added 15 points for the Lady Tigers.
    Claxton trailed, 22-18, at halftime but outscored Marion County, 24-8, in the fourth quarter.
    Claxton will play Mitchell County on Tuesday night at Mitchell County.
