GREENEVILLE, S.C. — The Georgia Southern men’s basketball team blew a 12-point halftime lead, but held on to defeat Furman 57-55 Monday night at Timmons Arena.
GSU ended a four-game losing streak and ups its mark to and snapped Furman’s three-game winning streak.
Senior Donte Gennie scored a game-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Eagles won for the second straight time in Greenville. Fellow senior Jimmy Tobias was the only other Eagle in double-figures with 10.
Junior Dwayne Foreman, in his second game back since missing two games with a hamstring injury, tallied five points and dished out five assists.
Furman’s Robby Bostain recorded 18 points and Tony Anderson came off the bench to score 10 in the losing effort.
The Paladins shot just 36.4 percent in the opening 20 minutes compared to 50 percent for the Eagles. The leading 3-point percentage team in the league was held without a triple in the first half.
