Eagle baseball gets new scoreboard
First Southern Scoreboard
One of the top collegiate baseball facilities in the country will add another impressive feature. Georgia Southern Athletics announced that a video display scoreboard will be installed at J.I. Clements Stadium in time for the 2008 season-opener. Director of Athletics Sam Baker announced that First Southern National Bank provided the key sponsorship.
In addition to the baseball scoreboard, First Southern also partnered with Georgia Southern to install a state-of-the-art touch pad timing system and scoreboard at the new swimming facility and a new scoreboard at the softball field.
All three scoreboards, built by Daktronics, are fitted with LED lighting. The baseball scoreboard will feature a digital clock and pitch speed display in addition to the video graphic display.
Renovation work has begun on the Eagle softball field. In addition to the new LED scoreboard, the softball stadium renovation will feature in the 2008 season new seating and a pressbox, and ultimately a facility that will house team locker rooms and public restrooms.
The touch pads at swimming, already installed for the first home meet last month, will ensure the most accurate timing system as well.
“Georgia Southern has one of the top baseball facilities in the country but our old scoreboard was out-dated. Thanks to First Southern National Bank’s sponsorship, this new scoreboard will certainly enhance J.I. Clements and the fan experience there,” said Baker. “First Southern’s generosity also helps us upgrade out-dated scoreboards and display systems at the Eagle softball field and new swimming facility at the Recreation Activities Center. We already had one home swimming meet and received numerous compliments on the new system.”
