A day after the Southern Conference's football coaches selections were released, the conference office on Wednesday announced the SoCon's Sports Media Association's All-Conference Teams.
The teams featured more of the same but with a few differences from the coaches' picks.
Similar to the coaches' votes, GSU's Brent Russell and head coach Jeff Monken were picked as the Defensive Player of the Year and the Head Coach of the Year, respectively.
Wofford running back Eric Breitenstein became the consensus Offensive Player of the Year by winning the media's Roy M. “Legs” Hawley award.
Chattanooga quarterback Terrell Robinson, who shared the top freshman honor in the coaches' voting, was named the Freshman of the Year by the media association.
There was only one difference for the Eagles on the All-SoCon First Team. William Maxwell, a Second Team selection by the coaches, joined Brett Moore as one of the top offensive linemen.
Maxwell led GSU with 96 knockdowns and posted four games of over 10 knockdowns, including a season-high 17 at Wofford.
The media's All-Conference Second Team added Robert Brown to the coaches' list of honorees. Brown joined quarterback Jaybo Shaw  on the All-Conference Second Team Offense after leading the team with 834 yards rushing on 130 carries.
Consensus selections between the two All-Conference Teams include: First Team Specialists Adrian Mora and Laron Scott; First Team Defense members Russell and Scott; and Second Team Defense selection John Douglas.
