Southeast Bulloch running back Tharon Davis finds the end zone on Sept. 28 against Westside. The Yellow Jackets will look to get back in the win column when they host Josey tonight.
The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets have had two weeks to recover from a heartbreaking, 21-20 loss to Westside on Sept. 28.
That defeat put SEB (1-4) at 0-2 in Region 3-AA, tied for last place.
“I think our kids know that we had an opportunity to win the football game,” said SEB coach John Kenny. “A few mistakes cost us. I think our kids know we’re improving. There’s no moral victories — but — I do believe our kids felt like they deserved to win and they played well enough to win. Take away a couple of mistakes and we would have.”
Southeast had last week off to rest, heal up and prepare for tonight’s game against Josey (2-3, 1-1).
“The bye week was important for us,” said Kenny. “That’s always a good time to get (the four or five players injured) healthy. And it was good to go back and get some scrimmage work. And we did a lot of fundamental stuff.”
The Eagles of Josey from Augusta are a quick, athletic squad that utilizes the play of their quarterback.
“They have a great quarterback and a very good tailback,” said Kenny. “We got to stop the bootleg, the toss and the iso. It’s going to be important to keep their quarterback inside the box and to get pressure on him in the passing game.”
Josey has been shutout in its three losses this season.
Tonight’s contest in the final in a four-game stretch in which the Jackets played at home in three of those games. Kenny expects another big crowd for tonight’s game.
    Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.
