Obituary - Robert Lucas
Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel
Robert Lucas

Robert Lucas died at home on September 1, 2024, following a brief illness. Born January 1, 1961, in Metter, Georgia, Robert was the son of the late Janie Francis and Albert Lucas.

For many years, Robert worked and traveled around the country with Eddie Marks Construction, but Metter was always home. In recent years, he worked independently and built homes in and around Candler County. Robert's last and most beloved project was restoring the 100-year-old barn on Hendricks Farm, the place where he grew up and spent so much time gardening, fishing and helping the family.

With his gifted hands and brother by his side, Robert and Stanley almost completed the project.

Robert was a gentle man and a man of few words, but when he spoke, it was direct and to the point.

He cherished his family and enjoyed gathering with them for shared meals and celebrations, be they major holidays or just the beauty of the setting sun.

Robert is survived by a son, daughter and stepdaughter, Dalton Lucas of Statesboro, Ga.; Chelsey Fitzsimmons of Statesboro, Ga.; and Crystal Salazar of Statesboro, Ga. He is also survived by a brother and two sisters, Albert Lucas Jr. of Metter, Ga.; Joann Lucas Lively of Twin City, Ga.; and Betty Sue Lucas Weyandt of Twin City, Ga. Robert is also survived by two grandsons, two granddaughters, two step-grandsons and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

His brother, Stanley Lucas, predeceased him in July.

Visitation will be held at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, Metter, GA, on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 10 a.m.-11 a.m.

The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in Hooks Chapel. Burial will follow at Paynes Chapel Church Cemetery, 5042 Paynes Chapel Road, Millen, GA.

Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
