STATESBORO, Ga. -- Mrs. Willie Lee Powell, age 94, departed this earthly life Monday, September 27, 2021, at the Heritage Inn Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    The native of Statesboro, Georgia, was the daughter of the late James and Nona Mincey Mainer. She was a homemaker.
    In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Powell Sr.; and a son, Larry Mincey Sr.
    She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Edward (Deborah) Powell Jr., Statesboro, Ga.; grandchildren, Larry Mincey Jr., Statesboro, Ga.; Edward Powell III (Ebony), Brunswick, Ga.; James Mincey of Virginia, Melanie Powell, Jeremy Mincey, Katherine (Benjamin) Jackson, Dwayne McCullough (Princess), Tara McCullough and Desiree Moore, all of Statesboro, Ga.; Ernest Scott, Fort Bragg, North, Carolina; nine great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
    A walk-through viewing for Mrs. Powell will be held Friday, October 1, 2021, at Hill’s Mortuary, Inc. from the hours of 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    A graveside service and burial for Mrs. Willie Lee Powell will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Register, GA, with the Rev. Terrance Jackson officiating.
    Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we ask that you adhere to all CDC guidelines. Masks are required.
    Final rites have been entrusted to Hill’s Mortuary, Inc.
