NEWINGTON -- Dorothy Elizabeth Knox Wilson, age 91, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018.
She was a native of Emanuel County and had lived in Newington for the past 47 years until June of 2018 when she became a resident of Southern Manor in Statesboro, Ga.
She retired from Torrington in 1987.
Miss Dot never met a stranger and was loved by all who knew her.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Ozzie Wilson; her parents, Ruben Nelson and Ona McKendree Knox; her sisters, Bertie Morris, Pauline Lamb, Tiny Mae Lance, Willie Mae Roberts; her brothers, James Knox and Karl Knox.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Mary W. Moore, Martha W. Jones and Nell W. Dickey; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was on Monday, December 3, 2018, at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home in Sylvania, Georgia, with Pastor James Horn officiating. Interment will be in Turkey Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Effingham County.
Pallbearers will be David Roberts, James Thomas Moore, Lewis Brooks Harrison, Thomas Raeb Moore, David Stokes, Marty Connell and Casey Harrellson.
The family requests memorials be directed to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, GA 30459.
