Vince and Barbara Dooley to speak at Boys & Girls Club's annual fundraiser
W Vince and Barbara Dooley

Legendary Georgia Bulldogs football coach Vince Dooley, along with his wife, Barbara, will be the featured speakers at the annual Steak & Burger Dinner fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County.

Vince Dooley is one of the winningest coaches in the history of college football and a member of the College Football Hall of Fame since 1994. He led the Dawgs to the 1980 national championship and six Southeastern Conference championships during his 25 years as coach. He was honored as National Coach of the Year twice and coached Heisman trophy winner Herschel Walker.

Barbara Dooley has been married to the coach for 53 years, but she has achieved her own success and identity as an author and media personality with her radio show.

This year's tailgate-themed dinner will be held at Georgia Southern University's Nessmith-Lane Conference Center ballroom. The buffet will open at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, and the dinner officially begins at 7 p.m. For those who would like the opportunity to meet the Dooleys, a meet-and- greet reception will be held exclusively for premier ticket holders starting at 5:30 p.m.

All proceeds from the dinner will support the programs and activities run by the Boys & Girls Club of Bulloch County. The mission of the Boys & Girls Club is to enable all young people, especially those most in need, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

The club stands out as the only organization in the county focused on at-risk youth that provides a positive setting for participants to grow academically as well as socially. Currently, more than 400 members are served by the club daily.
