Candler County Hospital in Metter, Emanuel Medical Center in Swainsboro and Evans Memorial Hospital in Claxton are ranked among the top 12 of the most financially stressed among 49 rural hospitals eligible for a new state tax credit program. State officials, after reviewing facility financials, ranked Candler County Hospital and Emanuel Medical Center the second and third neediest and Evans Memorial is twelfth. Irwin County Hospital in Ocilla was ranked as the neediest among eligible rural hospitals.
