Police arrested a Statesboro teenager Saturday who reportedly pulled a gun on others inside a night club.
Bouncer Kevin Lewis said he and others detained Jamon K. Lee, 17, of Green Street, after he "pulled a gun on the dance floor" at the Elk's Lodge on James Street.
Someone called police after club security subdued Lee, and Statesboro police officers responded to the scene around 1:24 a.m., said Cpl. Justin Samples.
Lewis said Lee "tried to put the gun to (his) head" and said he felt "someone was supposed to be shot" during the incident, but he and other security persons intervened before the gun was fired.
Lee struck a victim in the face with the gun before he was detained, Lewis said. He then "threw the gun to his brother, who ran."
Lee had been checked for firearms upon entry to the club as part of security measures, according to Lewis, but "sometimes females will smuggle (contraband) in," he said. Lewis said women aren't usually searched as thoroughly as men at the club. He did not say whether he knew who brought the gun into the club.
Samples confirmed Lee was arrested and charged with terroristic threats and acts, three counts of simple assault, reckless conduct, three counts of pointing a pistol at another and possession of a pistol or revolver under age 21.
Samples said there were no injuries reported during the incident, which is being investigated by Statesboro police Det. Ben Purvis.
There has yet been no determination that the incident is gang related, Samples said. However, Lewis said he believes Lee's actions may stem from gang-related issues.
"Luckily, nobody got shot," Lewis said.
Lee was taken to the Bulloch County Jail, where he remains without bond, according to jail records.
