Both Statesboro High School and Portal High School have announced the cancellation of their football games Friday night in the face of approaching Hurricane Irma.

Statesboro was set to host Screven County and Portal was to travel to Jenkins County, but school official decided to cancel the contests due to the storm.

It's not yet known whether either school will reschedule the games later in the season.
