Statesboro Christian Bookstore to close Saturday
Statesboro Christian Bookstore

Statesboro Christian Bookstore will close for the last time Saturday.

The store at 603 Brannen St. has been in liquidation mode since June 19 and has been working to sell everything, even the fixtures.

The Christian Bookstore began in 1973 by William "Buddy" Morris in a friend's garage.

When Morris retired in 2007 with plans to close the store, longtime customer Jamey Patrick decided to buy it as a ministry to serve the community. She doubled the size of the store inventory over the next six years and changed the official name to Statesboro Christian Bookstore.

Now Patrick has decided it's time to close and spend more her time with her family. She hopes someone else will pick up where she leaves off.

The store is open 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Saturday.
